CLAY COUNTY, Ind. – Indiana State Police say a trooper escaped serious injury after a near crash with a delivery truck.

Trooper Ty Lightle was responding to a call to a domestic situation with his lights on when a FedEx truck turned in front of him as he tried to pass.

It happened as the two were both northbound on SR 59 near the Clay/Parke County line.

Lightle managed to avoid a collision but went off the road and struck a utility pole and some small trees.

Lightle was taken to the hospital to be checked out but suffered no serious injuries.

The domestic situation turned out to be a verbal dispute and no injuries were reported.
