Vigo Voters Say “No” To Referendum

Vigo County, In. – Taxpayers in Vigo County have decided not to pay a little more for significant renovations to the county’s highs schools. A referendum on the ballot in last night’s primary election — asked taxpayers to approve a proposed tax increase in order to fund a 260-million-dollar plan to rebuild and renovate Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South, and West Vigo High Schools. The referendum came up short of the required votes needed for approval. Superintendent Rob Haworth saying he’s “saddened at the outcome” and that because of the result some tough decision lie ahead.
