JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — No trial yet for the Clark County man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and eating parts of her body.

A judge has ruled that a Clark County man accused of killing his girlfriend and eating parts of her body is not competent to stand trial.

The judge on Monday also ordered 38 year old Joseph Oberhansley, to a state hospital for treatment.

Oberhansley is accused of breaking into the home of 46-year-old Tammy Jo Blanton in 2014. Jeffersonville police said Oberhansley raped Blanton, killed her, and then ate her organs.

Oberhansley was previously found competent and stood trial in August. The trial ended in a mistrial after a witness shared information the prosecutors and defense attorneys agreed would not be shared.

His trial had been rescheduled for February. It is now delayed until Oberhansley’s competency is restored.

Prosecutor Jeremy Mull said he “still wants to take the case to court.”
