Follow-Up: Truck Collides With Combine In Vermillion County

VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind – Vermillion County officers were called to an accident between a Combine and a pick-up truck around 9:30 Wednesday evening.

Police say that the truck had struck the combine and then went over an embankment.

The combine, driven by 41 year old Douglas Drake of Drake Farm’s in Dana was traveling west on US 36 along with a tractor pulling a grain cart.  Drake was trying to maneuver around construction barrels when he was hit by the truck driven by 61 year old Ronald W. Griffin of Rosedale.

Griffin said that he came around a nearby curve and did not see the farm machinery.

He struck the combine in the rear wheel before leaving the south side of the roadway and the going down the embankment.

Griffin was taken to a local hospital for minor leg pain.

The accident remains under investigation.
