TERRE HAUTE, Ind – The Terre Haute Air Show this past weekend saw thousands come from near and far to see what most would say was a great event.

That event wasn’t without its problems. Torrential rains on Friday left most of the grass field parking unusable on Saturday. There was not enough parking to accommodate all that tried to attend, and some had to be turned away.

Those that were upset about being turned away posted comments on social media, some even demanded a refund on their tickets.

In a statement released by the organizers, the Air Show Committee said that they will gather all accounting, attendance, and logistics data and based on this information, the committee will make decisions about many items including the feasibility of another show, financial decisions, and many other items.

The demand by some for refunds was not specifically addressed.

The managing committee of the Terre Haute Air Show is proud to have presented two great air shows to the West Central Indiana Community on August 18th & 19th. Both shows contained a great assortment of aircraft and acts, jets and props, military and civilian, for the enjoyment of all. Despite our challenges from a record rainfall immediately prior to the event, we made every effort possible to provide a safe and entertaining show for all.

Over the next few weeks, the Air Show Committee will gather all accounting, attendance, and logistics data. Based on this information, the committee will make decisions about many items including the feasibility of another show, financial decisions, and many other items.

Presenting an outdoor show that requires a temporary tent city for 40,000 people to be constructed in two weeks is a serious and complicated undertaking, not to mention all the requirements of the FAA, the performers, and city and state government units. We appreciate all the support from our sponsors, vendors, volunteers, guests, local and state law enforcement, the Terre Haute Fire Department, and especially the Vigo County School Corporation and all the bus drivers who helped make this happen. It takes a very large group of people to accomplish an event like this and overall, it was a very positive experience for our community.
