Vermillion County Man Shot After Stabbing Another

VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind – Thursday morning (8/16/18) around 1:30 a.m. Vermillion County Police were called to Union Hospital in Clinton about a stabbing victim.

Deputies say that 28 year old Dustin Peterson of Cayuga was at his home at 415 S. Second St. in Cayuga when Joshua Loveall entered and tried force Wendy Bacon, to leave with him.

According to Peterson, when Bacon refused to leave with Loveall, Peterson told him to leave but Loveall refused, pulled a knife and stabbed Peterson in the left side of his chest. Peterson said that after being stabbed he grabbed a 12 Gauge shotgun and shot at Loveall and witnesses said that is when Loveall fled.

Officers were not able to find Loveall after searching in Vermillion, Fountain, Parke and Warren Counties.

Around 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning Loveall called police because he needed medical attention.

He was taken to Union Hospital of Clinton for medical treatment of a gun shot wound to his left upper leg. Officers say that the cell phone in his pocket to the brunt of the shot.

Lovell was released to officers after further treatment at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.

He is now being held on $50,000.00 Bond with 10% allowed.
