VIGO COUNTY, Ind –  A Terre Haute man accused of rape will go on trial next week.

Jury selection will begin Monday for 43 year old Harry C. Custer, who was arrested following a police pursuit that ended south of West Terre Haute in July 2017.

Police say that he fled from them and swam across the Wabash River.

A probable cause affidavit filed in his case said that Custer encountered the victim in the case while the woman was searching for her lost dog. Custer allegedly lured the woman to a remote area where he attacked her.

Custer is facing multiple charges and is also facing a habitual offender enhancement.
