NEW YORK –Steve Buyer, who represented Indiana in Congress from 1993 to 2011, was convicted Friday of insider trading charges.

Buyer, a Republican and Persian Gulf War veteran, once chaired the House Veterans Affairs Committee and served as a House prosecutor during the 1998 impeachment trial of President Bill Clinton.

The jury returned guilty verdicts against Buyer on four charges after a two-week trial. Sentencing is set for July 11.
