BRAZIL-During the moming hours on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, a Clay County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling State Road 59 in the area of Harrison Township.

The Deputy observed a speeding vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver David Sankey, 49 from Terre Haute, Indiana, was found to be operating a vehicle without a
valid driver’s license.

Upon further investigation Deputies located suspected methamphetamine and marijuana.
Mr. Sankey was transported to the Clay County Justice Center where he was remanded on the following
charging information:
• Operating a Vchicle as a Habitual Traffic Violator – Level 6 Felony
Possession of Methamphetamine – Level 5 Felony
Possession of Marijuana – B Misdemeanor
This case is being forwarded to the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
