TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – A Terre Haute teen was laid to rest Monday after being shot and killed at a party last week.

17 year old William Garrett Sands was killed last Wednesday at a party in a home in the Idle Creek Subdivision that belonged to the parents of 19 year old Nathan Derickson.

Investigators believe that teens at the party were consuming alcohol and playing with a gun when Derickson pulled the trigger believing that the gun was not loaded.

Derickson is being charged with reckless homicide and is set to return to court for another hearing Wednesday.
