
Terre Haute, In. – No criminal charges will be filed following last falls confrontation between two Vigo County Council members. The special Prosecutor officially declined prosecution against Council President David Thompson and Councilman Randy Gentry due to insufficient evidence. The incident occurred after a tense meeting regarding the county oversight board. An argument escalated between Thompson and Gentry, prompting Vigo County Sheriff’s deputies to intervene. Gentry later filed a police report alleging physical threats, triggering an Indiana State Police investigation. A special prosecutor handled the case to avoid a local conflict of interest. The prosecutor ultimately closed the case, finding the evidence lacking. Thompson called the allegations politically motivated, while Gentry has issued no comment.
