Vigo County, Indiana – A Honey Creek Township home sustained extensive damage today after a freak accident involving a parked vehicle and a juvenile driver. Vigo County deputies were called to the area of East 44th Drive and South 19th Street just before 3:00 pm. Monday afternoon. Investigating officers say a male juvenile was sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle when a man attempted to get him out. During the interaction, the juvenile accidentally hit the accelerator, causing the car to surge forward. The vehicle dragged the man a short distance before slamming into a nearby residence. The man was transported to Union Hospital for treatment of his injuries. While the home suffered significant structural damage, the Sheriff’s Office has ruled the incident a complete accident. No criminal charges are expected to be filed.
