Vigo County, In. – The Vigo County Oversight Board traded their spreadsheets for school hallways on Monday. For the first time, members of the committee formed to vet the school corporation’s massive facility plan stepped inside the buildings they’ve been studying from afar. The committee spent more than two hours touring Terre Haute South Vigo High School and West Vigo High and Middle Schools. At South Vigo, the board inspected aging mechanical systems and a decommissioned pool. The tour also highlighted modernization efforts. At West Vigo, board members viewed a “prototype classroom” designed to meet modern technical needs. The board is tasked with finding a way to fund these upgrades without raising property taxes.
