
New THPD Policing Initiative Showing Positive Results
Terre Haute, In. – Last week The Terre Haute Police Department began operating the new Safe Neighborhoods and Property Crime Initiative. In the first week multiple arrests were made along with several drug seizures. On the first day several drug arrests were made resulting in over 800 grams of meth, 2.4 grams of crack cocaine and several ounces of marijuana being seized. One of the people arrested also had an existing warrant for possession of methamphetamine. Later in the week two suspects were arrested and charged with armed robbery and burglary. Due to the proactive patrol, officers were able to respond to a robbery at the Rodeway Inn with in 30 seconds of the call. Police Chief Kevin Barrett said in a press release “Each week, our officers continue to demonstrate a proactive commitment to community safety through coordinated enforcement, investigative follow-up and rapid response, these results reflect our department’s focus on reducing violent and property crimes while maintaining a visible presence in our community.”
