INDIANAPOLIS–Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark announced Thursday afternoon that she will not be taking part in the WNBA STARRY 3-Point Contest or the All-Star game this weekend because of her groin injury.
“I am incredibly sad and disappointed to say I can’t participate in the 3-Point Contest or the All-Star Game. I have to rest my body. I will still be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action and I’m looking forward to helping Sandy coach our team to a win. Can’t wait to see you all out there!,” said Clark in a message posted on the Fever’s social media pages.
Clark was referring to New York Liberty Head Coach Sandy Brondello who is coaching Clark’s team. Clark and Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier were named the player captains for finishing first and second, respectively, in the All-Star fan voting.
Clark sustained a right groin injury in the final minutes of their July 15 victory over the Connecticut Sun. She’s missed 10 games so far this season. She’s also battled a left groin injury.
The Fever’s record is 12-11 so far
