Terre Haute, In. Earlier this week officials from the EPA, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, and City of Terre Haute gave an update on the huge cleanup of the “Brownfield” site at 19th and Beech Streets in Terre Haute the site of the former Columbian Home Products. The official announced that the site cleanup of all toxic materials on the site is complete. The city of Terre Haute has received a brownfield assessment grant from the EPA for $500,000 to help with the costs for evaluating the land to get it ready for commercial and residential standards. Mayor Sakbun would like to see the property developed. He says the city is looking at a couple of different projects, from multi-family to single-family. Maybe get some green space in this area of the city.
