Terre Haute Man Arrested In Clay Co. After Being Found With Meth

Clay County, In. – Monday afternoon a Clay County Sheriff Deputy stopped a vehicle in Brazil for a traffic violation. While the vehicle was stopped a Sheriff Canine alerted that drugs may be in the car giving the deputy probably cause to search the vehicle. The search turned up a large amount of suspected methamphetamine, two loaded handguns and a large amount of money. The driver of the car was identified as 34-year-old David Childress of Terre Haute. The search of Childress vehicle led Clay County Narcotics Investigators along with the Vigo County Drug Task Force to search Childress’s residence. During that search they found another large amount of methamphetamine and more firearms. Childress was arrested and booked into the Clay County Jail charged with dealing methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine. A report was sent to the Vigo County Prosecutor for additional charges in Vigo County.
