Cayuga, In. – After controversy concerning Duke Energy’s plan to replace the coal powered Cayuga Generation plant with a gas fired plant Duke says they will conduct a feasibility study to explore the possibility of selling the site’s coal units to interested buyers. In Tuesday’s announcement, Duke said it has reached a deal with Reliable Energy Inc., which represents several of Indiana’s major coal producers. The sale will only happen if Duke get the state approval to build that gas fired plant and the sale of the coal plant is approved. The new gas powered plant would be in operation in 2029 and 2030. After that Duke would make the Cayuga Coal Fired Generating plant available for sale
