Terre Haute, In. – The Terre Haute Department of Redevelopment had a public meeting Wednesday to discuss the possibility of a housing development in the Ohio Boulevard Deming Park area. The development would have 250 lots along with a dog park, pool, and walking trails. Some concerns raised by the public at the meeting included traffic flow, bike and pedestrian safety, schools, density of neighborhoods, and overall design. The $5.5 million funding for this development would come from the state Residential Housing Infrastructure Assistance Program (RIF) that provides funding and low interest loans to communities to finance infrastructure projects such as this. Terre Haute was granted the largest funding out of 13 residential infrastructure projects in the state. The Terre Haute and Redevelopment Commission will discuss public concerns at their next meeting in June.
