Indianapolis, In. – Th COPA document concerning the merger between Union Health and Terre Haute Regional Hospitals has been posted online for public viewing. The Indiana Department of Health says that the 120-day deadline for IDOH to review the application is June 21, and the 30-day public comment period ends March 23. Senate Bill 119 a bill that could have ended the merger attempt by essentially killing Certificates of Public Advantage has been amended; it cleared the Senate on Friday in a 49-0 vote and now heads to the House, where it is sponsored by state Reps. Brad Barrett, R-Richmond, and Bob Heaton, R-Terre Haute.  State Sen. Greg Goode, R-Terre Haute, who had previously testified in opposition to SB 119, spoke in the Senate in favor of the amendment on Wednesday and again on the bill itself Thursday. Terre Haute government officials and the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce are in favor of the merger.  If you would like to view the document and voice your opinion click here.
