Meth Supplier Sentenced In Clay County

Clay County, Indiana – Nearly a year ago several people were arrested during a major drug bust in Clay County During the bust, last February, David Smith Jr. was arrested by the Clay County Sheriff’s Department and charged with possession and intent to deal methamphetamine.  Prosecutors say Smith was the main supplier of methamphetamine in the area bringing in about 10 pounds a week.  He was the ultimate supplier of meth into Clay, Vigo, and Sullivan counties. The state asked for a 25-year sentence, 23 of which would be executed and 2 suspended to probation. Last Monday Circuit Court Judge Joseph Trout handed down a 12-year sentence, with 10 years executed in prison and 2 years suspended to probation. Clay County has several pending cases relating to this drug bust.
