Prairiton, In. – Residents of Prarieton showed up at the Vigo County Commissioners meeting Tuesday morning and voiced their concerns about Dollar General planning to open in their community.  The concern voiced by the residents included increased traffic and the lighting glow around the store might disrupt the carefully cultivated rural atmosphere.  It was also brought up that there was a Dollar General store less than four miles away.  A member of the United Methodist Church in Prairiton is concerned that the new store is only a quarter mile away from the church and that Dollar General sells discount alcohol. Before construction could begin the Commissioners would have to allow a change in zoning for the store.  The Site is currently zone for agriculture. After listening to the residents and the developers they decided to table the decision until further discussion can take place suggesting that both sides sit down and discuss the situation.
