VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. – Duke Energy has broken ground on its new $3 billion natural gas facility at the Cayuga Generating Station in Vermillion County, Indiana. The modern combined-cycle plant will add 470 megawatts of capacity, producing enough electricity to power 1.1 million homes. This project updates Duke’s oldest active coal site in the state to meet rising regional power demands. Construction will create up to 700 local union jobs, with the facility scheduled to fully open by 2030.
