Terre Haute, In. – Forty-one-year-old Michael McBroom Jr. is behind bars today following a high-stakes SWAT standoff on Terre Haute’s north side last week. Police say the incident began in the 2200 block of 3rd Avenue, where McBroom allegedly held a victim hostage at knife-point and threatened their life. After the victim managed to escape and seek medical help, Terre Haute Police and SWAT teams surrounded the residence for several hours before taking McBroom into custody. He now faces a long list of felony charges, including armed robbery, criminal confinement, and domestic battery.
