Indianapolis, In. – Indiana has officially revoked commercial driver’s licenses for nearly 1,800 non-citizens following the enactment of House Enrolled Act 1200. State officials voided the 1,790 licenses because the holders do not meet specific residency or visa categories, such as agricultural or treaty investor status. While supporters call the move a win for public safety and English proficiency standards, critics argue it targets legally authorized workers. Indiana is the first state to take this action, and local employers now face fines up to $50,000 for hiring drivers without these newly restricted credentials.
