Four People Left Without A Home After Morning Fire In Terre Haute

Terre Haute, In. – The Terre Haute Fire Department battled a blaze in a home on Gilbert Avenue Monday Morning (12/15/25) The fire was spotted by Terre Haute street Department employees who notified central dispatch. They then remained on scene and helped with evacuation of the family of four from the building. The City of Terre Haute released a commendation for Street Department employee Greg Kelly who demonstrated exemplary service by going above and beyond to help a wheelchair-bound resident safely exit the home before the arrival of the Terre Haute Fire Department. The Red Cross responded to the scene and was able to arrange housing for the displaced family. The fire Department ruled the fire as accidental.
