Terre Haute, In. – Winter weather in just around the corner Terre Haute Mayor Sakbun presented the 2025 Warming Center Plan proposal to the Vigo County Council last week. The plan proposes a change in the way the centers are funded. The Mayor’s funding options include matching funding from the city and county. Projections show that warming centers could be funded throughout the entire season with just one appropriation. His plan also proposes changes to activation thresholds. Meaning that warming centers would open under a wider range of circumstances, including wet or snowy conditions not just extreme cold.
