Thousand Flock To First Weekend Of Covered Bridge Festival

Parke County, In. – The weather was perfect and the crowds were huge for the first weekend of The Parke County Covered Bridge Festival. Festival officials say that around one million visitors are expected over the 10-day event as they wander the back roads of the county to visit the county’s 31 historic covered bridges. Most every community in the county have booths and vendors set up offering authentic arts and crafts and fantastic food. There are 9 main festival locations. Rockville, Billie Creek Village, Bloomingdale, Bridgeton, Mansfield, Mecca, Montezuma, Rosedale and Tangier. Each Parke County community has a specialty. No matter where you go officials urge you to to be patient and drive safely and wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes. The festival continues daily through the 19th.
