Terre Haute, In. – The city of Terre Haute opened bids for the former Terre Haute Coke and Carbon property at 13th and Hulman. One bid has been received from Indiana Railroad who said they would use the property for a logistical hub. Indiana Rail Road will be sending more details of its plans for the property this week. Redevelopment will vote on whether or not to approve the railroad’s bid 60 days after Aug. 20. The Terre Haute Coke and Carbon plant operated from 1916 until its closure in 1988, producing coke, coal gas, tar, and benzene on the property at 13th and Hulman.
