Terre Haute, In. – Tuesday afternoon Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun announced a strategic hiring freeze” for the city.  This move will safeguard the city’s fiscal health and core municipal services. The freeze will impact most city departments. The freeze will not affect the police and fire departments, as well as transit and seasonal employees. The mayor says changes to the property tax formula made by the Indiana legislature will hurt the city’s finances starting in 2027.
