Springfield, Il. – Illinois Governor Pritzker has signed into law two gun safety laws. One is the Gun Safety Storage Act which requires firearms to be stored in a secured, locked container in areas accessible to children, at-risk individuals, or those prohibited from having guns. The law also empowers the Illinois State Police to revoke Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) cards from those who repeatedly fail to report lost or stolen guns within 48 hours. The other law requires every law enforcement agency in Illinois to participate in a federal firearm tracing platform.
