Inmate At Federal Pen In Terre Haute Has Sentence Extended

Terre Haute, In. – A press release from the U.S. Department of Justice, says that 43-year-old Otha Don Watkins III, of Cairo, Illinois, received an extra 5 years in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter and possessing contraband in prison. Watkins III was serving a 23-year sentence for aiding and abetting armed bank robbery, possession of a stolen firearm, and conspiracy to commit robbery. The release states that Watkins III constructed a “prison shank” and fatally stabbed another inmate, Carlos Shelton, during a fight in April of 2023.
