The Vigo County School Corporation revealed their 16-month feasibility study conducted by Gibraltar Designs and Monday evening School Board meeting. Representatives from Gibraltar Design presented the study’s findings and process.. The study focused on potential changes in school facilities based on declining enrollment and funding challenges. The study’s findings suggest potential changes in the number and structure of schools within the the county. The study’s recommendations are based on factors like declining enrollment, available funding, and difficulties in recruiting staff. Currently, the county has three high schools, five middle schools, and fifteen elementary schools. According to the study, the worst case scenario would result in consolidation to one high school, three middle schools, and nine elementary schools. The school corporation will spend the summer going through the proposal and evaluating the options. They say they hope to have a proposal ready by the start of the next school year.
