Terre Haute, In. – If you purchased a Compact Disk in the 1980’s chances are it was manufactured at the Sony DADC plant on North Fruitridge in Terre Haute, In. At one time over 2,000 workers worked in the plant. Last week Sony announced that they have entered into a partnership with Terre Haute-based D&D Automation and KLA Corp. in California to manufacture specialized shipping canisters used to transport semiconductor chip components. Sony became involved in the venture because the building contains an 110,000-square-foot clean room space which is essential when dealing with semiconductor chips.
