Vigo County, In. – The Indiana Department of Transportation says construction of the $53 million Indiana Welcome Center, just East of the State line on I-70, is in it’s final phase of construction. The Welcome center is Indy 500 themed and according to INDOT it’s more than a rest stop but a tourist attraction as motorists enter Indiana they can stop and learn the history of the state and the greatest spectacle in racing. A Borg Warner Indy 500 winner trophy is on display along with different memorabilia from the Indy 500. The welcome center offers 178 truck parking spaces an increase of almost 80 spaces, at the old facility. INDOT says they expect the project to be completed sometime this summer.
