Sheriff Youth Ranch Will Close Due To Statewide Budget Cuts

Clay County, In. – The Indiana Sheriff’s Youth Ranch located in Clay County will be closing permanently this month. A staff of Volunteers from Sheriff Departments from around the state operated the ranch The Indiana Sheriff’s Youth Ranch has been operated as a leadership academy for aspiring law enforcement officers and also served at-risk youth, young witnesses, and victims of crime. Scott Minor, the executive director of the ranch said the loss of a $48,000 annual state grant was just too much for them to try and raise each year. The property, equipment, all furniture and accessories will be auctioned off on May 31st.
