Terre Haute, In. – Reversing a decision made last November to close the Vigo County Group Homes due to low enrollment and, in some cases, limited capability to provide for specific needs. Vigo County Juvenile Justice Center Director, Norm Loudermilk and the Vigo County Commissioners announced Friday that the Vigo County Group Homes for children will remain open. The Vigo County group homes provide structure and intervention for children aged 10 to 18 who are referred by the Indiana Department of Child Services or the local juvenile justice system. With the group homes staying open they will be providing more services and accepting more children in the future. The commissioners said they will work with the county council to restructure the employment in the homes. There are 3 group homes in the county, and they will undergo some remodeling.
