Plea Deal For Greencastle Man Who Shot At Officer

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – A Greencastle man has accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty to an attempted murder charge.

Other charges against 50 year old Jeffrey Hunter will be dropped.

The charges stem from a shooting incident that happened in December of 2016.

Police in Putnam County were looking for Hunter, who was suspected of stealing from a Greencastle tractor supply company when a Cloverdale officer confronted Hunter at his home.

Hunter shot the officer who was wearing a bullet proof vest.

The officer returned fire striking Hunter in the chest.

Hunter will be sentenced on April 12th in Putnam Circuit Court.
