Wabash Valley – Severe weather hammered western Indiana on Monday afternoon, leaving behind a trail of property damage and widespread power outages. The storm caused structural failure to a Shell gas station canopy in Carlisle which collapsed under the weight of torrential rain and high winds. Emergency crews are worked around the clock across the area to clear uprooted trees and snapped utility poles blocking main roadways. Utility companies report that thousands of residential and business customers were without power after the storms. Repair technicians scrambled to restore downed electrical lines. Homeowners also face a tough cleanup after fierce wind gusts tore sections of roofing off houses and flattened several agricultural outbuildings. The National Weather Service says we’ll face another round of storm this afternoon.
