The Indiana Department of Transportation announced that starting tomorrow, contractors will begin lane closures on I-70 eastbound over Birch Creek. Workers will restrict traffic down to a single lane just under a mile east of State Road 59 to complete urgent bridge approach repairs. This follows similar westbound maintenance completed in that exact same area last month. INDOT officials expect these new eastbound restrictions to cause heavy backups through early September, so consider using US Highway 40 to bypass the congestion.
