Indianapolis, In. – Hoosier drivers are getting a reprieve at the pump. Yesterday afternoon, Governor Mike Braun declared a new statewide energy emergency, effectively extending Indiana’s gasoline tax holiday through September 5^th. The tax suspension was set to expire at midnight tonight, which would have instantly tacked nearly 59 cents per gallon back onto fuel prices. Instead, drivers will continue to benefit from some of the lowest gas prices in the nation. To pay for the extension without draining local road funding, the state will use its five-billion-dollar cash reserves to fill the revenue gap.
