Terre Haute, In. – An Indiana State Police trooper is recovering this morning after sustaining minor injuries during a high-speed weekend pursuit in Terre Haute. The incident began Saturday when a driver refused to pull over for a routine traffic stop, fleeing north on U.S. 41. The suspect attempted a sharp turn onto the Interstate 70 on-ramp but lost control, crashing into a grassy area. The pursuing trooper followed the vehicle into the grass to continue the chase. The suspect then ditched the car and fled on foot, sparking a brief manhunt before being arrested in a nearby Drury Inn parking lot. The trooper suffered minor injuries when he followed the car into the grassy area and was treated at a local hospital.
