
Local leaders are moving fast to help more than two hundred Vigo County workers facing permanent layoffs. Following news that the ThyssenKrupp manufacturing plant in Terre Haute will begin a phased closure next month, local officials are taking direct action. The Terre Haute Mayor’s Office confirmed that WorkOne and plant HR teams have scheduled multiple onsite job fairs and immediate interviews with regional employers. Mayor Brandon Sakbun says the goal is keeping this highly skilled talent right here in our community. Several major local industries are already lined up to interview workers inside the facility before the phased shutdown wraps up next spring.
