The Sullivan County Park and Lake Board is heading before the County Redevelopment Commission today, March 3rd, to push for the dredging of Sullivan Lake to be named an official “Priority Project.” This move comes as the Board seeks a new path forward after previous funding requests through Tax Increment Financing were denied because the lake falls outside current TIF district boundaries.
The Board is hoping that securing this priority status will streamline future development and open doors for the financial support needed to launch phase two of the project. This push follows a recent economic impact study highlighting the lake’s vital role in local tourism and talent retention. While phase one concluded late last year, the timeline for the next stage—tentatively set for fall 2026—hinges on the outcome of these ongoing funding discussions.
