BRAZIL – The 20th annual National Road Yard Sale officially opens May 31 and continues through June 1.

It is officially along U.S. 40 but many sales can often be found on streets near the route in Brazil.

The National Road is known to be the route Abraham Lincoln sometimes traveled between Springfield, Illinois, and Washington, DC. Friendly residents along the route, including at least house in Clay County, provided water for the great man’s horses.

In 2004, the National Road Yard Sale was established along the road that was built between 1811 and 1834.
