INDIANAPOLIS—You will no longer have to pay state income tax if House Bill 1521 is signed into law.

The bill would eliminate the Indiana income tax by reducing the rate to zero.

However, the revenue currently generated by the state income tax would be replaced by an increased state sales tax.

The bill was introduced on Jan. 19 and was referred to Committee on Ways and Means.

If the bill is passed, it would become law on July 1, 2023.
