SHAQ OR NO SHAQ – THAT’S THE QUESTION

INDIANAPOLIS — It’s still a mystery when Indianapolis Colts All-Pro linebacker Shaquille Leonard will return to the field.

Leonard has participated in full practice with the Colts for four weeks straight, causing some fans to speculate on why Leonard hasn’t transitioned into a full game. Leonard told reporters Thursday it’s easier said than done. What’s actually happened in each practice has been a building block process.

“That first week you know, nothing but stiffness,” Leonard said, referring to his back injury, “second week okay let’s see how I can cover ground. The third week, okay let’s see how I tackle. Can I tackle in this space? Can I tackle left and right? Can I do things I know I’m supposed to be able to do? So that’s what it all comes down to.”

As of Thursday, September 29th, Leonard was still “noncommittal” about his return. He was a full participant in Thursday’s practice.

The Colts are coming off an upset victory against the formerly undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, scoring a winning touchdown in the final 24 seconds of the game. That was Indy’s first win of the season, bringing the Colts to a 1-1-1 record on the season.

The Colts have division rival Tennessee Titans at home this Sunday. Kickoff at 1 o’clock.
