FARMERSBURG, Ind. — It was a chemical experiment gone wrong.

On Tuesday, five students from North Central High School in Farmersburg were conducting an experiment. Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom tells us that the experiment got out of hand and the chemical reaction burned some of the students.

Sheriff Cottom says according to the last update he received, all but one of the students were out of the hospital. One of the students’ had chemical inhalation. Most of the students were treated in the Sullivan County area, but Cottom says one was treated in Indianapolis. It’s unclear if the student treated for chemical inhalation is the same student that had not yet been released from the hospital.

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security conducted interviews at the school Wednesday.
