VIGO COUNTY, Ind – The Vigo County School Board held a public work session Monday evening.

The board is working with local health officials in exploring the idea of offering vaccination clinics at the high schools for students age 16 and up.

The district is reviewing its policies and any legal impediments to the idea.

Officials are also exploring the idea of returning to a full five-day week schedule for all students. That could come up at the next board meeting on April 26th.

Currently, Mondays are remote learning days and middle/high school students attend in-person the other four days.

Health and district officials are still monitoring for any potential increase in cases due to spring break.

The last student day of school is May 27.

Also, school officials discussed the planned closing of Deming and West Vigo Elementary schools at the end of the current school year. This is part of the school consolidation plan previously approved by the board.

A committee will be formed to recommend the closing of a third elementary school.
