NEWPORT, Ind – Around 8:20 p.m. Thursday night Vermillion County Deputies were call to a residence on George Street in Newport for a Domestic Complaint.

When officers arrived, they found a juvenile at the residence that showed signs of battery.

The suspect in the case, 31-year-old Dirk P. Daffron of Brazil had already fled the scene.

Clay County Sheriff’s Deputies found Daffron in Brazil a short time later.

He was arrested and taken to the Vermillion County where he is being held on charges of:

Domestic Battery a Class A Misdemeanor

Domestic Battery in the presence of a child a Level 6 Felony

Battery to a person less than 14 years of age a Level 5 Felony

Battery resulting in moderate bodily injury A Level 6 Felony

 

His bond is currently set at $15,000.
